When summer comes, we spend a lot of time in nature, in the garden, on trips, at the lake or on the beach, communicating with people close to us. We share tips on how to care for your hearing aids in the summer so that you can enjoy uninterrupted conversations.
Dry your hearing aids regularly
In the summer, it is extremely important to protect your hearing aids from moisture – sweat, swimming or rain. Although most hearing aids are waterproof, water can damage the sound quality of the device and shorten the battery life. Do not forget to regularly dry the device in special devices, and open the battery door when the devices are not in use.
Do not leave your hearing aids in direct sunlight
If you go swimming, sunbathing or playing sports on the beach, we recommend that you remove your hearing aids so that water and sand do not damage the devices. Never leave your hearing aids in direct sunlight or in a car in the hot sun, as the plastic housing of the hearing aid may deform.
Apply sunscreen or insect repellent before putting in your hearing aids.
Various sprays and creams can damage the devices. Therefore, first apply/spray the products and only after they have fully absorbed into the skin and dried, put in your hearing aids.
SOS! If your hearing aids do get wet,
Open the hearing aids and remove the battery. Gently wipe the device with a dry cloth, and if possible, immediately put it in a special drying device. Even if the device is working, leave it in the drying device for at least a few
hours so that the moisture completely evaporates. If the device still does not work, contact your hearing care professional.
